All I Want for Christmas are My Two Wiperblades

You’ve heard the song “Over the River and Through the Wood” a few times by now. Your “sleigh” may be a vehicle, but “to Grandfather’s house we go” still holds true. Whether you’re going to Grandfather’s house, Aunt’s, Cousin’s, or friend’s house one thing is clear – during the holiday season you’ll be spending more time in your car than normal. There are all kinds of things you can do to make the drive more comfortable, enjoyable, and possibly more memorable. Vehicle accessories can impact the time you spend travelling in great ways, and, luckily, those accessories come in all kinds of shapes, sizes, and in every price-point. Accessories could make hands-free talking for yourphone possible, could make your car run better, and make your music listening more entertaining. Other accessories "beautify your car", either on the interior (like spill-protection) or the exterior like ResistAll appearance protection or...eyelashes/mustaches.

As it’s almost Christmas, I figure it’d only be fair to share my list of accessories I’m asking Santa for. It’s really hard to choose when there are literally thousands of different accessories, even things for organizing groceries and decals and stuff that just make some cars look cooler, but here are a few that I went with:

·         Navigon 2200T GPS
WHY: At an affordable $229, this GPS offers real-time traffic updates, which would be more than helpful given our St. Louis highways, shortcuts, and potential for accidents. The system also has text-to-speech functionality. Also, let’s be really honest – Santa can see everything, which means he’s seen me get lost one too many times. Santa knows I need something like this, because a simple phone application just can’t do it for me, the directionally deficient.
·         Alpine iDA-X305
WHY: Despite my car being a 2001 model, I have a completely outdated stereo system – fully loaded with a cassette deck. Remember those? Now, I definitely don’t have any issues with cassettes and miss making mixtapes as much as the next nostalgic kid born in the 70’s/80’s, but not only is my cassette collection lacking a bit, the deck in my car is broken or has chosen to stop working and is on a lockout similar to the NHL. I’m a freelance music writer in my spare time and spend most of the time in my car listening to albums I’m about to review, or a new and upcoming bands' latest releases. This system doesn’t have a CD player which is just fine because I rely heavily on MP3’s and much like the GPS system, affordability and ease-of-use is key. I’d love to listen to new albums on this!

My list is kind of small, but like I said before – I do love my car, so there isn’t much I’d want to do to make it any better. Now it’s your turn! Share with me some of the car accessories you’d love to find under the tree. Decals, a trunk organizer, new floor mats, a security system? Leave a comment and let us know what Santa should drop off.
