366 Days of Kia - 2012 Year In Review

Kia Motors has had an exciting year, and because of their great year, we here at Lou Fusz Kia have had plenty to celebrate throughout each and every one of 2012’s 366 days. Let’s look at some of the major Kia Motors milestones, as well as recap some of the great things that happened at Lou Fusz Kia during 2012.

  • Kia Rio wins in the 2012 Red Dot Design Competition: Since 1955, the Design Centre of North Rhine-Westphalia has hosted the Red Dot product design competition. The competition is one of the world’s biggest design contests and Kia was awarded top honors for two of their vehicles – the Picanto (not available in the US) and the Rio. The Rio five-door won in the internationally-acclaimed “Product Design” division and beat out over 4,500 other products.

  • Speaking of the Kia Rio…road trip! I took a road trip in a Kia Rio EX five-door from St. Louis to Oklahoma City. The weekend trip was jam-packed with fun and great fuel efficiency but you can read all about that trip here.

  • Lou Fusz Kia Service Facelift: Our service area underwent some cosmetic surgery this year and it was all for the benefit of you, our valued customer! You helped us pick which color of paint to go with and gave us some stellar feedback that all went into the completion of the remodel. The service department boasts more than new paint, though, and includes a huge TV, new seating, and even a separate family waiting area full of toys and art supplies for those with children. Whether you’re waiting for repairs or waiting for your new car to be delivered, you can enjoy any of our televisions, use an iPad for entertainment, and enjoy snacks and coffee.

  • Kia unveils 3rd Generation Forte: Another Kia highlight from LA’s SEMA auto show was the reveal for the third generation of the Forte. I wrote about some of the newly redesigned aspects, including the possibility for the Forte to be built here in the United States. The Forte’s will be equipped with the new UVO 2.0 system, as well as being offered in LX and EX variants which give the driver the choice of efficiency in a 1.8 liter engine, or power from a 2.0 liter engine.

  • Toys (upon toys upon toys) for Tots: The Lou Fusz Automotive Network proudly paired up with Toys for Tots this holiday season to make the holidays brighter. All 13 Lou Fusz locations collected toys from late November through December 19th and ended up filling box truck with the toy boxes double stacked from front to back. My wonderful social media teammates and I had the opportunity to shop for toys to donate and had a great time doing so (there are all kinds of pictures showing exactly how much fun we had)! Our very own sales manager hosted a Toys for Tots party in which attendants brought toys to donate; those donations from John’s party helped push Lou Fusz Kia over the 400 toy mark.

These are just a few of the events, changes, surprises, and fun milestones from 2012. There were many more, but we simply couldn’t fit all of it on one page. 2013 looks to be just as full of fun and great news, though, and we look forward to the new vehicles and taking care of our customers, old and new!
